About the Book

Ms. Abigail Spencer runs a Community Help Center for disadvantaged children. Ms. Spencer has fought through her struggles and made many accomplishments. Ms. Spencer believes as part of her gratefulness for overcoming her obstacles and reaching her goals; she should always stay grounded, humble and give back freely. Although Ms. Spencer could afford to live a very flashy and lavished lifestyle, she chooses to stay low-key and conservative. Mr. Ben Carlyle is a Grammy award winning recording artist who is to volunteer at the help center as part of the Stars Give Back Program. He became a member in an attempt to better his image and promote his newly released CD which features a single about a better future for kids. Mr. Carlyle comes from a long legacy of famous singers. This lifestyle is all he has ever known and all he ever wanted. Mr. Carlyle loves being a performer and is very proud of his superstar status. He is very authoritative and driven by his success. Mr. Carlyle is cocky and arrogant. Ms. Spencer is humble and guarded. The differences in their character puts them at odds to the point of being somewhat vindictive towards each other. After a visit to Ms Louisa, the elderly wise mentor and friend of Ms. Spencer, Mr. Carlyle and Ms Spencer come to see each other in a different light.
About the Author: About the author Debra A. Jones is a licensed social worker who is dedicated to improving the lives of families, children and helping others to over-come obstacles. Debra believes a positive mindset, good energy and will power to endure are important key tools to achieving your dreams. Debra has a strong passion for helping others to live productive, loving and peaceful lives. Prior to becoming a social worker, Debra was employed in the public school system where she worked one-on-one with children to overcome barriers to learning in order to achieve academic success. As a social worker and former public school employee, Debra strongly believes every child deserves to be in a loving and nurturing environment; and should receive the assistance needed to achieve academic success. Debra also attributes her inspiration for writing uplifting and entertaining short stories to growing up in a single parent home where her mother had limited education but a strong will to thrive and provide for her children. Debra remembers the stress her mother endured because of her shortcomings and expresses how her mother would not have had the time, patience and ability to read a novel or books that had a large number of pages. Debra strongly and sincerely wants her short stories to be utilized as an outlet to aide people in constructively and positively dealing with the pressures of life.
