About the Book

This book tells the life of David Clarke who's formative years were those in Aylesbury. He was born in Oldham. The family moved to Aylesbury in 1962 and lived on the Bedgrove estate having sold their family shop village shop, in Wilstone. David and his elder brother Michael grew up in Aylesbury but unfortunately became young criminals. Michael was sent to Detention Centre, Borstal and then Maidstone prison. David was sent to Dover Borstal at the age of 17. On David's release from Dover Borstal, in 1968 he spent his life dealing with drugs and crime until he had a sudden conversion from crime to Christianity. He turned his back on crime and learned to read to educate himself, which lead to him to making a confession to the police to 24 undetected crime. that he had committed since leaving Dover Borstal in 1968. He went on to Higher Eduction, graduated with a Certificate in Education awarded by Birmingham University, married and moved to Bierton where he became a Baptist minister at the Bierton Particular Baptist church. He continued his work as a lecturer teaching electronics for over 20 years, in colleges of Further and Higher Education. This book tells of those significant events in his life and Christian work he was engaged in, not only in Aylesbury and Bierton but also in the Philippines that has now extended to Pakistan.
About the Author: David Clarke was born in Oldham Lancashire, in 1949. He was educated and trained as a lecturer, at Wolverhampton Polytechnic, and graduated with a Certificate in Education, awarded by Birmingham University, in 1978. However, his earlier life had been rather different. He and his brother Michael were both convicted criminals and were sent to prison for malicious wounding and carrying a firearm without a license. They grew up in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, during the 60's, they were MOD's and they became criminals. They were sentenced to prison for malicious wounding and carrying a firearm without a license. On the 16th January 1970, David had a bad trip on LSD, during which time he called out to God to help him and Jesus spoke to him. He learned to read to educate himself and went on to Higher Education and for the next 14 years read the bible, various classical Christian literature and joined the Bierton Strict and Particular Baptists, in 1976. He became a lecturer in electronics, the church secretary and was called by the Lord, and sent by the church to preach, in 1982. The Bierton church became a Gospel Standard listed cause on 16th January 1981, Due to errors in doctrine and practice, David withdrew from the Bierton church over issues of conscience. David doctrines of grace were true and taught Particular Redemption and that the Gospel was the rule of life for the believer and not the law of Moses, as some church members asserted. He then wrote his first book, "The Bierton Crisis"', explaining the reason of his succession and stating the biblical teaching of the contentious issue with a view to help others. "And he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of fishes which they had taken": Luke 5 verse 9.
