About the Book

"There is nothing funnier than wrong when it is done right. Jim does it right." -- Marc Maron "That's Jim, the cloud guy. The guy whose book of fake obituaries has now made me unable to consider eating chicken again." -- Rachel Maddow Mourning Remembrance is a collection of mocking obituaries based on the lives, and deaths, of real people. It's 276 pages of relentless insensitivity for the whole family! Created by Jim Earl, Emmy and Peabody Award winning comedy writer and former staff writer at the Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Mourning Remembrance celebrates the legacies of all those dead individuals whose accomplishments spanned the spectrum from the harmlessly stupid, to the horribly evil, and helped transform our lives into the Orwellian nightmare it is today. Cover art by Tony Millionaire, and illustrated throughout by Nathan Smith.
About the Author: Jim is a former writer for the The Daily Show With Jon Stewart. During his four years there, he won an Emmy and a Peabody Award. They are now available for sale. He grew up in the small college town of Claremont, California and "earned" his degree in Art History from the University of California at Berkeley. Following that, he moved to San Francisco where he and his high-school friend Barry Lank formed the comedy team of Lank and Earl, debuting at the legendary Holy City Zoo. Over the next ten years they gained a reputation as "comics' comics" for their unique and offbeat humor, appeared in a variety of stage and television shows, and saved no money to speak of. After leaving The Daily Show, Jim went on to become a founding writer and performer for Air America Radio. His work there included writing for Al Franken, Rachel Maddow, Sam Seder, Janeane Garofalo and Randi Rhodes. But he is best known for writing and performing the top-rated morning comedy segments Rapture Watch, War on Brains, Mourning Remembrance, Sammy the Stem Cell and others for the Morning Sedition show starring Marc Maron and Mark Riley. Returning to California, Jim continued working on the Marc Maron Show at Air America's Los Angeles affiliate KTLK AM 1150. Then a lot of other crap happened that Jim would rather not talk about. Really. Recently, he's written and performed on various podcasts with Andrea Martin, Patton Oswalt, Jeff Garlin, Robert Smigel, Rick Overton, Paul F. Tompkins, Paul Provenza, Greg Proops, Neal Brennan, Tom Kenny and Carlos Alazraqui. Jim's band, The Clutter Family, is about to release their 2nd CD, "Freak IT!" VINTAGE GUITAR MAGAZINE describes the band as, "Seriously talented folk/rock musicians who work from way beyond the edge." "Best compared to Barenaked Ladies." And INNOCENT WORDS MAGAZINE called their 1st CD, "Brilliant." "Pop strong enough to quench the thirstiest of music fans." For more information, buy an encyclopedia. Or visit www.JimEarl.Com
