About the Author: Richard Michaels Stefanik is the author of Structures of Fantasy, a screenwriting book that analyzes the dramatic and comic elements found in popular movies. He was an American Film Institute (AFI) Screenwriting Fellow. The Structures?of Fantasy book is recommended in the American Film Institute Desk Reference. A revised and expanded edition of this book has been published as The Megahit Movies. The French translation of this book was published in Paris by Editions?Dixit as "Les Clés Des Plus Grands Succes Cinematographiques." He also wrote Story Design: Creating Popular Hollywood Movies, now available at Amazon.com Richard lectured about story structure at Sherwood Oaks Meeting Film Executives Workshops in Hollywood and at Sony Studios, Universal Studios, Warner Bros and Paramount Studios. He gave seminars on story design at the Creative?Screenwriting Expos and The Great American PitchFest in Hollywood. Richard recently taught a Cinematic Storytelling: Complex Puzzle Films, Cinematic Storytelling: Sci-Fi Fantasy Genre and Cinematic?Storytelling: Classic Films at the St. Petersburg College Downtown Campus. He also conducted a class for the Eckerd College OLLI program titled Science Fiction: Visions of Technology Transforming Humanity during the 2017-2018 sessions. Richard worked at several Hollywood studios, including Paramount Pictures and Walt Disney, and has published five novels: Elixir, Entanglements, Monte Carlo, Once in a Blue Moon, and Morpheus Phoenix in Prospero's Dreams. He received M.A. degrees in Philosophy from the University of California, Berkeley and Georgetown University. He has also studied Logic and Philosophy at Oxford University.
