About the Book

Tommy is your average boy. Well, almost average. There's one tiny difference though. Tommy's parents like to sexually abuse him. That's putting it mildly. Every day it seems he is getting tortured and punished for something or other. Childhood is no fun, it's filled with hard labor. Adults constantly scream threats and beat him viciously for the tiniest misdemeanors. Every day he is scared to death. The end of the world and the rise of the Antichrist seems all too imminent. School? Please. We'll all be dead by then, sitting at the right hand of the throne of God. If Tommy openly doubts the cult's beliefs, the wrath of God is meted upon him swiftly without mercy. It's no wonder, Tommy's parents are members of the notorious Children of God. A cult that openly embraces sex with children, public floggings of children, speech restriction, denial of food, water, and basic human rights for children. Guantanamo bay could learn a thing or two from these fuckers. These crimes against humanity are committed in the name of love and the name of God.

One day, Tommy has just about had it. After an unsuccessful attempt to escape, he finally persuades his parents to put him into a boarding school. They reluctantly realize Tommy is hell bent on leaving and finally agree. The consequence is drastic. He is officially excommunicated at the age of thirteen. That means cut off from his former friends, siblings and anyone else he knew his entire life.

Outside the cult, nothing at all is familiar. Tommy has never watched TV, heard pop music or even eaten a bar of chocolate. The other kids in the boarding school can't make sense of this weird and impoverished kid who barely speaks any German. He speaks broken German with an American accent, yet claims to be a German citizen. How strange! Unsurprisingly, he is regularly beaten up and bullied. It seems like the life in the cult may have been the better option after all. Tommy is not a quitter however and desperate to fit in. The solution? Small time dealing to make ends meet. In the months that follow he rapidly grows up. He must quickly become street-wise and fearless.
His bravery is soon put to the ultimate test. A girl he deeply cares for, is beaten and raped right in front of him. There can be only one outcome. He flings open his trusty butterfly knife and rushes to save her, killing her assailant in the process. This act of courage poses an even bigger problem. The man he murdered was a powerful drug dealer. If anyone finds out that Tommy murdered him, torture and execution will swiftly follow. Under cover of darkness, Tommy flees the boarding school into the unforgiving wide open world. He painfully realizes there is no one he can run to now, no turning back. It's anyone's guess where fate will lead him.

At night the monsters of his past come to torment Tommy in his dreams. His memories of the past all too painful to bear yet he finds it impossible to ignore them. The solution is too easy. Alcohol, marijuana and ecstasy may dampen the pain temporarily, but in the long run, they are as effective as a Band-Aid on a freshly severed limb.

It seems at times the only way out of this total misery is death. That's not like Tommy though. That's too easy, in his mind that's a coward's solution. Total annihilation of all the predators in this world? Well that seems far more enticing.

While on the run, he meets other outcasts of society like himself. A friendly druggy by the name of Ollie invites Tommy to live with him. Soon he gets to know his small circle of friends and inevitably falls in love a beautiful girl named Angela. As he gets to know her better, he finds out that she was raped and abused by her own father. He can relate all too well. One night, as she pours out her soul to him, he becomes determined, more than ever to mete out retribution again. This time, Tommy's got a gun.
