About the Book

This publication centering on a very important subject matter, viz "MONEY": You Can Control It", has T appropriately identified the good and bad aspect of money and how we can master it, control it and make it serve your purpose. The misunderstanding of money and its functions in society lies at the root of many of our economic and social problems. According to Pilzer, economically, advancing technology has been making money and its traditional function in the economy obsolete. In functional terms, money is anything that simultaneously has (i) fixity of price, stated in terms of basic measuring unit, and (ii) general acceptability in payment for goods and services or in payment of debts. There is no doubt that money has its good side in facilitating our undertaking many set projects and for transactionary purposes. In fact it can be very useful even in Foreword evangelism and mission activities; but should not elevate such to the extent of falling in love with it to become our God. It should be fully realized that God creates all things including the owner of money and money as a resource, and most importantly to note that it is God who gives us the power to have money and other possessions. Realizing the bad and bestial aspect of money and its insatiable nature making one under its firm grip to always desire more and more of it on unlimited extent, one should uncompromisingly put it under strict control to avert being destructively gripped by it. The love of money to the extent of making money ones god, having been convincingly demonstrated and proved by Rev. Kristilere in the scripture and in daily life, should be jealously guarded against because of its capacity to kill and displace a person's love for God. The author is highly commended for his desire to not only preach the messages from the pulpit, but to assemble them together to be printed in a series to be read, digested, and meditated on, with each focusing on a major theme as this one on 'MONEY' as others centering on 'This Valley Must be Filled' etc. By the publication of the messages, it makes them readily available to many near and far by which many souls will be blessed. Thus, the book is expected to re-orient and educate/inform readers better on the diabolical/intriguing issues on the appropriate use of money, such as to consciously subject it under our tight control, rather than allowing it to rear up its ugly head to occupy God's place in our heart that should be jealously guarded against and highly revered. Rev. Israel Olu Kristilere is a powerful preacher, bringing God's message in an effectively soul-inspiring manner to produce lasting effect on the audience. He appropriately notes in the book the deceptive nature of possessing money, as it could make one thinks that wealth is the easiest way to get everything done; this we normally refer to as "money illusion", whereby one erroneously rates oneself higher and more powerful than what one really is. The book will no doubt be found useful for those who desire to place money in its rightful state as a mere resource such as not to enable it usurp the supreme place of God. I warmly recommend it not only to believers but unbelievers, desiring to know more about the subject matter, supremacy of God and need to control the two- edged resource. DEACON. ADE. T. OJO Distinguished Professor of Finance
