Quand l'armée Allemande entra en Pologne en 1939, ils n'ont eu aucune
pitié et rassemblèrent tout le monde pour les envoyer en Allemagne travailler
sur les fermes à produire de la nourriture pour l'armée de Hitler. Cette
histoire décrit la vie de deux polonais dont le destin était de se rencontrer
dans ces circonstances et subséquemment se marier et avoir des enfants.
Ils sont ressortis d'une guerre où ils ont fait l'expérience du travail forcé
et de la faim. Heureusement, ils s'en sont sortis vivants alors que des
millions y ont perdu leur vie. Par la suite, ils avaient l'intention de remettre
ensemble les pièces de leur vie et continuer à vivre.
L'histoire est racontée par le plus jeune des trois enfants et décrit leur vie de
famille du mieux possible. Ils étaient trois enfants, tous nés en Allemagne, à
cause de la guerre, mais élevés au Canada et aujourd'hui de fiers Canadiens.
Le nom Walosik s'est étendu à la quatrième génération et bientôt à la
cinquième. Pendant des années, il y avait deux familles portant ce nom en
Amérique du Nord. Un de ces hommes était Canadien, mon père, et l'autre
un Américain, Oncle Frank. Ils ne retournèrent pas à leur pays (Pologne)
après la deuxième guerre mondiale car il n'y avait aucune opportunité de
se bâtir une bonne vie. Le pays avait été presque complètement détruit
et une vie de misère était à l'horizon.
