About the Book

This book is intended for those readers whose goal is to become haute couture models, i.e., high fashion models. Model of a Woman concentrates on teaching the high fashion modeling technique, and it also emphasizes the instruction of those special secrets and unique details that will help fulfill the aspirations of those young people who desire to be part of the glamorous and exciting world of professional modeling. In France this model is called mannequin vivant (living mannequin). No photographic or commercial model can be considered complete without having first obtained the necessary skills to become a mannequin-skills that enable her to successfully engage in any branch of modeling, These pages show the necessary techniques for actually achieving your modeling dreams. Whatever your aspiration, the knowledge you will find in these pages will give you the needed boost to succeed, turning you into a true professional model. The author of this book, MARTA MEIRA, was one of the favorite models of Yves Saint Laurent. She has extensive experience in the preparation of young people who aspire to become mannequins. Hundreds of successful models that followed her teachings attest to the success of this program. Miami, Houston, New York, Palm Beach, Paris, and Milan are just some of the cities where Marta's young students have modeled professionally for designers, such as Valentino, Adolfo, Christian Dior, Bill Blass, Chanel, and many others. In addition, students of this program have posed for several prestigious magazines, such as Vogue, W and Bazaa
About the Author: MARTA MEIRA (1936-2012), was a professional Mannequin born in Argentina. She had extensive experience preparing young people who aspire to become "Mannequins Vivants" or who just want to improve their image and to enrich their personality. Marta Meira began her career when fate put her in front of Yves Saint Laurent, who was at the time an assistant to Christian Dior and was selecting models to become part of the group of mannequins of the famous House of Dior. Exhibiting for famous fashion designers, she conceived the idea of creating a school with a teaching level of the most renowned European institutes of refinement, adding the runway modeling technique. Therefore she imagined that the "perfect model" could be achieved, combining the grace of social behavior with the art of modeling, what would result in an expert model on the runways and a lady in social circles- This idea became a reality when she settled in the United States, where she founded the first School of Modeling and Good Manners that had her name, becoming a pioneer in this type of education. Since then, she was worthy of major awards and honors granted by recognized international organizations, which include the "WORLD MODELING ASSOCIATION", that chose her school several times as the best school in the world based on the level of education and the professional quality of its graduates. Also the HALL of Fame placed her in the first place because of the education and training of successful international models. She was also honored with the keys to the city of MIAMI in recognition of her educational work carried out for the benefit of society. In 1994 Marta Meira moved to Europe where she continued her work providing young women from around the world her knowledge in the Art of Modeling with "Model of a Woman" which is dedicated to all her students, who longed to own these teachings in book form to bequeath it to their daughters. Through this work, Marta wanted to send a message of thanks to all her students, because among all the honors received, the most valuable for Marta Meira was the testimony of hundreds of students who today are successful not only as models, but also as managers of companies, fashion designers, journalists, architects, diplomats, lawyers, doctors, singers, movie actress, and mothers or wives who guarantee that what they are now, is owed to have had the privilege to receive this course that transformed them nothing more and nothing less than Models of Woman.
