About the Book

English summary: This book presents a comparative history of social assemblies for action, or drafts, in France and Great Britain during the First World War. Through an urban study of two cities and their wartime social movements, the author examines the war experience in the context of European nationalization and modernization. This unique dual approach allows for a thorough analysis of the material, cultural, and political factors that influenced and determined the mobilizing of people and resources during the Great War.
