Seitdem die mobilen Endgeräte, allen voran das Handy, den Massenmarkt erobert haben und zum Kommunikationsmedium des täglichen Lebens geworden sind, führt dies zu neuen Mobilitätsanforderungen an die Finanzbranche und gleichzeitig zu neuen Geschäftsperspektiven. Nach den substanziellen Veränderungen des Bankwesens durch das stationäre Online-Banking sowie aufgrund des nachhaltigen Veränderungsprozesses in der Bevölkerung hin zur mobilen Informationsgesellschaft, steht die Finanzbranche vor einem erneuten tiefgreifenden Wandel. Obwohl Mobile Banking zu Boomzeiten der New Economy ein sehr aktuelles Thema gewesen ist und zahlreiche Marktprognosen und -studien auf die erfolgversprechende Bedeutung der neuen mobilen Finanzdienstleistungen verwiesen, ist der anfänglichen Euphorie eine leichte Ernüchterung in der Bankenwelt gefolgt. Inwiefern dieser Wandel gerechtfertigt ist bzw., ob mobile Bankdienstleistungen im Privatkundengeschäft als zusätzliche Vertriebsschiene mehr als nur ein technischer "Hype" sind, soll diese Arbeit aufzeigen.
