Der Werkmeister Hans Nussdorf in Basel Der Georgsturm des Basler Munsters ragte wahrend 72 Jahren einsam in den Himmel, bis mit dem Martinsturm die vertraute Doppelturmfassade, das wohl wichtigste architektonische Wahrzeichen Basels, fertig gestellt war. Es war dem Munsterbaumeister Hans Nussdorf vorbehalten, das Werk zu vollenden. Am 23. Juli 1500 wurde dem von ihm entworfenen und erbauten Martinsturm die oberste Kreuzblume aufgesetzt. Die Publikation uber Hans Nussdorf nimmt dessen 500. Todesjahr zum Anlass, seinem Wirken und Leben in Basel nachzuspuren. Dieser letzte grosse, aus Suddeutschland stammende Baumeister am Munster, der uber weitreichende Kontakte und detaillierte Kenntnis anderer Bauten verfugte, soll wieder in Erinnerung gerufen werden. Im Zentrum stehen sein Hauptwerk, der sudseitige Munsterturm, sein bekanntes, aber verstecktes Portrat und die uberaus kunstvolle, fur den Prediger Johannes Heynlin geschaffene Munsterkanzel, bei der die Autorschaft Nussdorfs umstritten ist. Ab ca. 1470 wurde Nussdorf von Werkmeister Vinzenz Ensinger als Mitarbeiter in die Munsterbauhutte berufen und arbeitete als Polier in verantwortungsvoller Position, bis ihm selbst die Verantwortung als fuhrender Baumeister ubertragen wurde. Wie die meisten an Kathedralen beschaftigten Werkmeister arbeitete er jedoch auch dann nicht ausschliesslich auf dieser Baustelle, sondern bemuhte sich, mehrere Eisen im Feuer zu haben, was nicht immer ganz reibungslos moglich war. Seit den minutiosen Forschungen von Karl Stehlin zur Baugeschichte des Munsters im 19. Jahrhundert wissen wir um Hans Nussdorf. Gleichzeitig mit der gross angelegten Restaurierung seines Hauptwerkes, des Martinsturms, "restaurieren" ausgesuchte Fachleute in ihren Beitragen das Wissen um Nussdorf und seine Zeit auf der Basis von neuen Forschungsansatzen.
