About the Book

We give you the sequel to Lavender Village as promised. The Mists of Afar contains a surprise twist - it follows the turbulent journey of Felania, formerly the Mistress-of-the-Keys in The Kingdom of Beyond. Those of you who have read Lavender Village will remember it well. Felania is at present befallen and bereft: she has been expelled from the glorious realm she called home for many a year. Tricks played on others have finally come back to strike her down, and she is faced with the prospects of an unfamiliar life on the breathtaking isle of Skye in the misty Hebrides. Sulking over her sorry lot, anger and bitter resentment spew forth toward all she meets. The result is a series of comical altercations between her and the faery township of Crofton. And what about that secret she feels bound to lock away? Felania may frustrate, but she will always entertain. And you will meet many a delightful faery along her path. Do read on!
About the Author: Anne first conceived the possibility of writing a series of novels as a child. Her copy of Lucy Maud Montgomery's Anne of Green Gables, and indeed all of Montgomery's works became Anne's treasured friends. The author's first novel, Lavender Village, is set in East Sussex and is a tribute to her English ancestry - the Howards. On a trip to the island of Skye, set in the Hebrides, she thought it fitting to write another novel The Mists of Afar, in remembrance of her Graham and Bruce lineage. Skye immediately captured Anne's imagination with its soaring emerald green mountains and nestling mists. It was a place like no other, as were the turquoise Faery Pools all but hidden in the lush landscape. When she came upon the charming Faery Bridge, she simply had to incorporate this into her writing. A clan of proud and loving faeries and elves sprang into being and with them a heroine, Felania, sulking over her sorry lot. It is the Croftonians' quest to transform her into a caring individual, if, and only if, Felania can find the grace within herself to open her heart to love. Anne feels a kinship with all things British, including English mysteries. She also enjoys Victorian poetry and literature, both English and French. Her university major was French literature spanning the seventeenth to the nineteenth centuries. Anne spent many years in the antiques business and loves travelling to England. Anne and her husband Graham like walking on the beach near their home in Vancouver with two much-loved border terriers, Ivy and Arthur. If you enjoy Lavender Village and The Mists of Afar, you may also like A Castle in the Sky which will follow soon.
