About the Book

In his second collection of short humor, Remington J. Crockett continues to shine. Shorty Gassner, Delvin Crankshaft, Cousin Butch, Homer Snodgrass, and Grandpap, that loveable old curmudgeon, as well as the rest of the gang make their triumphant return! They continue to muddle their way through the great outdoors, witlessly battling Mother Nature along the way! For those who have finally recovered from the hilarity of "We Interrupt This Marriage to Bring You Deer Season!", get ready for an epic encore!
About the Author: Whenever I sit down to write one of these books, I feel a great deal of excitement. It comes from my pure enjoyment of everything related to the great outdoors. Whether I'm afield or just sitting at my desk writing about various outdoor sports, the great outdoors hold a special place in my heart. From the whitetails to the walleyes and the camping to the coyotes I love everything Mother Nature has to offer. For that same reason I also feel a great sense of obligation when I sit down to write one of these books. When considering all of the opportunities afforded me by Mother Nature it is imperative that my writing and storytelling do her justice. For me though it's even more than that. A very long time ago, for months on end, I didn't get to spend any time outdoors at all. Nearly a year of my life was spent at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center recovering from a traumatic brain injury courtesy of a trip to Iraq. It's ironic since my love of the great outdoors had lead to my career in the military in the first place. Ultimately my ranger and special forces aspirations were derailed by the brain injury and I was given a choice between a desk job for the remainder of my career or going home on a medical discharge. Once home I spent nearly all my time in the great outdoors. That was out of necessity more than anything else. I didn't like crowds or confined spaces and I didn't really want to be around people at all. Mother Nature offered me an escape from the world in which everybody else was living. Thankfully many of my fishing and hunting buddies sought me out to do nothing more than hunt and fish. Spending time in the great outdoors with them gradually led me back to a world in which I wasn't sure I belonged. Now I use my writing and philosophical approach to the world around me as a show of gratitude for all Mother Nature has provided me, as well as a light-hearted reminder that our time spent afield should in and of itself be the reward that we seek. When you get right down to it, if we all judge our outdoor experiences in adventures instead of inches than each of us has succeeded.
