I am telling my alternative medicine factual account, on how I achieved a 40-year-old's pregnancy. I was told that I would miscarry five times based on my age. I thought about in vitro fertilization, and it was too expensive and too invasive! Prior to age 40, I had two miscarriages. The first pregnancy was a molar pregnancy. After the second miscarriage, I sought the expertise of a licensed chiropractor/acupuncturist, a doctor of homeopathy and dietician, and a physician assistant. I had been on the pill for 18 years, and I exercised my entire life. I used herbal wraps and cleanses made from vegetables to detoxify my body. I talked to professionals about men's health and how it pertains to fertility. I realized I had waited awhile, and I fought for my daughter's life. Today, I am a proud mama! About the Author: Andrea Duran-Carpenter: She holds a B.A. in Communications, a minor in Health Fitness Education, and an MBA with an emphasis in Marketing. She is pursuing a second Master's Degree in Special Education. She currently, resides in Colorado. She was inspired to write this book to acknowledge the women who contributed to her story and of the successful birth of her daughter, and because of the professionals and authors who aided in this journey. Carl Janicek: He worked at Craig Hospital in Englewood, Colorado. There he learned a great deal about the current medical model being used in rehabilitation work, patient care, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and emergency procedures. Dr. Janicek studied acupuncture in more depth under Dr. Eric Tao, O.M.D., including 1200 hours of classes. He decided acupuncture was not the first choice of how he'd like to spend his time. In the 80's, he pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Wellness Nutrition, a pastoral degree. He was then persuaded by Dr. William Nelson N.D., to consider a scientific view of Homeopathy, and he finished his Doctorate of Homeopathy. Dr. Stacey Maxfield, D.C., and B.S.N.: She was born and raised in Iowa. She had her doctorate from the Parker College of Chiropractic, located in Dallas Texas. She moved to Colorado. There she continued her education with the study of acupuncture. Eventually, she added that practice to her license. This wonderful, compassionate, doctor, passed on August 9, 2012, to breast cancer.
