Eat thou not the bread of him that hath an evil eye, neither desire thou his dainty meats: For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee. (Proverbs 23:6-7)
Words in themselves are not our problem, but our ability to form these words to express our thoughts is where we find the bigger problem. Our expression is based upon our thoughts, and our thoughts are based upon our understanding, and our understanding is based upon what we have heard, learned, believed, and accepted in our heart. The Bible warns us to be careful about what enters our hearts, because what enters our heart determines how our lives will be. You cannot be different from your thinking, and it is in our heart that we think, not our heads. The Bible says "...as he thinketh in his heart, so is he..." (Proverbs 23:7). That's why God warns us and says "Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life." (Proverbs 4:23).
If you have evil inside you, evil will come outside of you, if you have positive thoughts inside your heart, positive words will come out of your mouth, and you will have a positive life.
"Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit. O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned." (Matthew 12:33-37)
That says it all!
Your words define you. We are built up by words (Acts 20:32), we express words based upon our understanding. If we express our thoughts long enough based upon our understanding, it will develop in us a mindset. This mindset is what controls our entire life whether positively or negatively. Your thoughts put you into action, whether good or bad actions, the evidence will be expressed in words, what you SAY.
The lazy man won't go out and work. "there might be a lion outside!" he says. (Proverbs 26:13 TLB)
The labour of the foolish wearieth every one of them, because he knoweth not how to go to the city. (Ecclesiastes 10:15)
The laziness or foolishness in the above scriptures originates from their hearts.
