Este libro pretende ser un manual de introducción a mindfulness, que pueda ser utilizado por cualquier persona interesada, independientemente de su conocimiento previo sobre el tema. Además de describir qué es mindfulness, cuáles son sus mecanismos de acción o cómo empezar a practicarlo, incluye las principales técnicas de mindfulness, que pueden ser descargadas online para su práctica en casa. También se abordan aspectos específicos y novedosos de mindfulness como su uso en las relaciones interpersonales, la atención consciente en la alimentación o su relación con la psicología positiva. Por último, se analizan algunos aspectos específicos de la práctica y la enseñanza de mindfulness en países de habla española y portuguesa.

Javier García Campayo es psiquiatra del Hospital Universitario Miguel Servet y Profesor Titular acreditado de Psiquiatría en la Universidad de Zaragoza. Hizo su formación en la Universidad de Zaragoza, donde se doctoró. Ha realizado estancias de investigación en las Universidades de Manchester (Gran Bretaña) y McGill (Montréal, Canadá). Ha sido Presidente de la Sociedad Española de Medicina Psicosomática. Coordina el Grupo de Investigación en Salud Mental de Aragón que pertenece a la Red de Investigación de Atención Primaria (REDIAPP) del Ministerio de Sanidad y a la Red de Promoción de la Salud Mental (Promosam) del Ministerio de Economía . Las principales líneas de investigación son: ansiedad, depresión, mindfulness y fibromialgia así como nuevas tecnologías aplicadas al ámbito sanitario. Ha publicado más de 200 trabajos de investigación así como 10 libros sobre temas psiquiátricos. Coordina el Máster de Mindfulness en la Universidad de Zaragoza, el primero sobre este tema en España. Es autor de libros como "Mindfulness y ciencia'' y "La ciencia de la compasión'', ambos en Alianza Editorial, y "Manual de Mindfulness" y "Mindfulness y compasión" en Editorial Siglantana.
