There are many aspects of labour you can control and using the techniques in this workbook will help you to exercise your full abilities and allow your body to do its natural work without the added complications of fear and tension.
However, it is important to remember that there are always elements that are outside your control - for example, it might not be possible to give birth in the location or position that you want, or to have a totally drug-free experience. Build some flexibility into your birth plan, so that you can take any changes in your stride and stay relaxed.

Your birth journey will be unique and individual to you so please don't feel you need to be brave and go without pain control or medical procedures. If you feel you need it then have it. If you are advised to have medical interventions then look at the evidence, ask questions then make your decision. You can still use hypnobirthing to keep calm and relaxed throughout pregnancy and labour.
