About the Book

Cynthia Jamison was one of the most beautiful and desirable women in America. She was a sweet, smart, friendly teenager from the suburbs of Chicago, where her friends called her "Mimi". Then she was seduced by the owner of a men's magazine empire and turned into the most popular nude model and expoitation actress of 1970's. She had a voracious appetite for high living and older, wealthy men. Yet, she had a dark and dangerous secret she kept from the world. Karl Cerelli was the perfect man, or so it seemed. A fast rising attorney, a gifted writer with a body and personality women could not resist. He was loved by all that knew him and seemed destined for greatness. Yet, Karl has his own tortured past even more dangerous than Mimi's. Then one night, purely by chance, Cynthia and Karl meet and their lives would be changed forever. From the moment their eyes meet, erotic sparks fly, sending them into a maelstrom of sex and drugs and down into the depths of the world's most famous men's magazine and Hollywood sleaze . "Mimi" will send the reader onto a wild roller coaster of intense human emotions, sex, humor, madness, unforgettable characters and shattering violence. Karl and Mimi's story will enthrall you and break your heart. Most of all it will haunt you. Forever. "Mimi" cannot be described or put into a single category It is an intense love story of a bond between two people that defies time and death. It is also remarkably humorous and introduces the reader to characters who are familiar but not stereotypes. "Mimi" is also painfully poignant at times reminding us that loss, grief and emotional cratering are part of the human experience. The love scenes and erotic encounters are written honestly and reflect the passion of the experience. The men and women who are making love do so not only with their bodies but their souls. "Mimi" also accurately depicts the era of the 1970's where drug use and sex were lifestyles of choice. The book also shows the hypocrisy of the adult entertainment world, Hollywood and the greater speciousness of high powered law firms. The book is flavored with an air of the surreal and the magical as well, commanding the reader to pay attention to the narrative. The book dares the the reader to disbelieve the believable and beckons all to follow it into darkness. The title character Mimi, is the deity the rest of the narrative revolves around. She deliciously evil, sweet, relentless, tender, vulnerable and brave simultaneously. Karl, her lover, just wants to be with her and will seemingly endure anything Mimi will torment him with. By the end of the story, they may have to make choices to salvage their love, that may lead them to doom. Riveting from the first page to the last, "Mimi" gives you characters to care about, erotica to thrill you, and a conclusion you will think about long after you have finished reading it.
About the Author: Eric Karell is a professional Chef and resides in Johns Creek, Georgia. Originally from New York City, he attended the University of Michigan and graduated with Honors from the Culinary Institute of America. He is very active in charitable work through the American Culinary Federation. Eric is a Certified Executive Chef, a Certified Culinary Administrator and a member of the American Academy of Chefs, the honor society of the ACF. Eric cites as his literary influences John Steinbeck, Ray Bradbury, Richard Brautigan, Kurt Vonnegut John Farris and Stephen King. He continues to draw inspiration from the works of Shakespeare and Ben Johnson. Eric wrote "Mimi" in exactly thirty days, doing the writing after working twelve hour shifts as a Chef. He says "Mimi" is the most unique of his works, having romance as it's theme. His other novels and short stories are much darker. His next novel is "The Devil's Sous Chef" which he hopes to publish this summer. He is also finishing up two cookbooks and in the process of editing two more novels. After that, he hopes to publish a biography of the actress Claudia Jennings. Eric feels this is the most important project he has written to date. To quote Eric "Claudia Jennings was one of the world's most beautiful women. That alone makes her memorable. But her life story, her warmth, her effect on men and women, her intelligence, her talent and her tragic death at twenty nine makes her story compelling. It seems more fiction than fact. She is mostly forgotten now and if not, she is remembered for the wrong things. It is my prayer that the biography will help change that." "Mimi" is Eric's first published novel. And, yes, he does preferred to be called Eric.
