Girls Lead Summit
Co-founded by Alla Arutcheva and Natalia Ruiz in 2018, Girls Lead Summit (GLS) is a peer-to-peer mentorship program for girls 8 to 14 years old. The vision of GLS is to help young women unveil their inner power, lead by example, and in turn help shape a new generation of female leaders. From a boxing and self-esteem workshop led by 13-year-old, six-time boxing national champion Meryland Gonzalez, to a photography workshop led by 9-year-old award-winning photographer Nominee Guerrero, GLS workshops cover a wide range of disciplines such as music, culinary arts, entrepreneurship, sports, engineering, visual arts, and more.
In March 2020, GLS shifted their workshops to a virtual platform as a response to COVID-19. That's when the Sheroes of Love Virtual Challenge was born: a series of Zoom workshops hosted by girls, for girls. These bilingual workshops in English and Spanish reached girls nationally and internationally. GLS, the Sheroes of Love Virtual Challenge, and all the girls involved in the organization were the inspiration for this book.
