About the Book

During the first decades of the new millennium, Americans, and in reality, all of humanity has seen and experienced firsthand a series of events and circumstances that can only rival to the devastation of the Great Depression and World War II. Some would even contend that the economic and human devastation in recent times are great enough to even overshadow that that the "Greatest Generation" endured. Remember Y2K and the billions, perhaps trillions of dollars that both private companies and local, state, and national governments spent in preparation for the big calendar event of the century? We made it through without the world shutting down however the economy did sputter a bit creating a need for President Bush to send stimulus tax credit checks to many Americans hoping to jumpstart the consumer economy again. Then came 9/11/2001. Not since the bombing of Pearl Harbor which compelled the United States to enter the World War II conflict had America seen such loss of life and devastation from a single event. It is and was historic to say the least and for those of us that lived through the experience, it will always be unforgettable. Only seven short years post 9/11, the world saw Investment Companies, Banks, and the housing economy blow up causing what was later deemed "The Great Recession". The financial devastation that the housing crisis and subsequent banking crisis caused was only measurable to the stock market crash of 1929 and the following depression it caused. For most of us that lived through the Great Recession, it was a time of huge economic setback either due to job loss, loss of income, and/or significant loss of investment principal (or all of the above). I know that I, along with millions of others, felt that the Great Recession was going to be it for all of us in terms of a once in a lifetime economic calamity. Like the 9/11 terrorist events and the resulting conflicts that followed through the years, once we were though the Great Recession, and the economy began to come back to life and eventually thrive, it seems we were all still affected by the events in a life changing way. Many altered how they worked, lived, traveled, saved money, and spent money due to lasting scars from these events. In 2020, the start of our third millennial decade, enter the covid-19 and the pandemic it caused. An absolutely frightening and real virus that ultimately will have killed millions around the globe over an extended period of time. This single event, the Covid-19 pandemic, will be the largest global health and economic crisis in modern history. After the decade of 9/11, the decade of the "Great Recession", enter the decade of the pandemic crisis. Job losses creating the highest level of unemployment ever, even surpassing the Great Depression, and an untold number of small and large businesses forced to close their doors, many never to reopen. Totally physically, mentally, and economically devastating. All of these "millennial disasters" have and will continue to take a toll on all of humankind. In this book we will focus on these events and their effects on we the people of The United States of America. The incredible and almost unrealistic pain in terms of loss of life, income stability, savings, and in many cases mental security will create a different way of thinking and living for the generation of Americans living today, just as the Great Depression and World War II undoubtedly marked the generation before us.
