Die Vielfalt des Einsatzes von technischen Möglichkeiten eröffnet neue Zugangswege, die mit herkömmlichem Bildungsinstrumentarium nicht ohne weiteres zu erschließen sind. Lehrmethoden mit modernen Lernmedien werden in Zukunft ein wesentlicher Wettbewerbsfaktor für junge, technikorientierte Menschen sein, die bereits heute multitaskingfähig mit z.B. Internet, Telefon und Smartphone usw. umgehen. Microlearning könnte die komplementäre Komponente sein, die die Ausschöpfung mobilen Lernens vor diesem Anforderungskanon ermöglicht. Ziel der Arbeit ist es aufzuzeigen, ob nach dem jetzigen Stand der Forschung Mobile Learning mehr ist, als nur der flexibel gestaltete Konsum von elektronischem Lernmaterial und inwieweit Microlearning eine sinnvolle bzw. sogar notwendige Ergänzung darstellt. Herausgestellt werden soll, dass es beim mobilen Lernen nicht alleine um die "Übertragung von Content" mittels mobiler Devices (Übertragungsvorrichtungen) und dergleichen geht, sondern vielmehr um die Befähigung zur Aneignung und Entwicklung jenes Wissens, das für erfolgreiches Handeln in veränderlichen Lagen und Kontexten sowie sich wandelnden Lernräumen erforderlich ist. Folgende Fragestellungen werden berücksichtigt: Inwiefern sind Mobile Learning und Microlearning kompatibel und komplementär und stellen mit ihrem Einsatz ein wichtiges Element für den lebenslang und selbstorganisiert Lernenden dar? Inwiefern kann die Verbindung von Microlearning und Mobile Learning als Chance zur Erweiterung bestehender E-Learning-Strukturen gesehen werden, die es ermöglicht, formale Qualifizierungsangebote in Richtung Wissensmanagement und informelles Lernen zu öffnen? Nach einer grundlegenden Betrachtung der Bereiche Mobile Learning und Microlearning werden die Lerntheorien im Kontex
