El libro parte de la hipótesis de que la metafísica occidental nace con una sobredosis, identificada por Platón con la idea del Bien en República 509b, a la que sin embargo intenta conjurar por todos los medios. Por el contrario, la apuesta del libro consiste en extremar la sobredosis ontológica y llevar al Ser a un estado de coma. Tal maniobra teórica, cuyo objetivo último es desfundamentar por completo a lo real, conduce a postular un Afuera absoluto del Ser que no se relativice y que, en consecuencia, no haga depender al Ser de esa Exterioridad radical.

"La filosofía, en su extenso devenir histórico, ha manifestado la voluntad de asociar la metafísica con una actitud contemplativa, con el rigorismo especulativo, con una lógica de la asepsia y una geometría de los conceptos delimitados con paciencia en busca de una tranquilidad de espíritu. De hecho, Schopenhauer defendía la idea de que el ser humano es un animal metaphysicum, vale decir, que quiere dotar al mundo de un sentido que, más allá de sus consecuencias, pueda ser alentador para la vida serena.
El filósofo Germán Prósperi, en este extraordinario libro, se libra a un camino inverso pues postula que la metafísica occidental no nace de la admiración contemplativa sino de una suerte de sobredosis que implica pensar, por ejemplo, a Platón como adicto al Ser en tanto metanfetamina. Buscar al Bien que se encuentra por encima o más allá del Ser es una apuesta a favor de una escalada extática: lo supra-ontológico es, como no se había advertido hasta ahora, una supra-dosis de Ser que provoca una adicción irremontable. De hecho, esa dependencia ha sido tan potente como para asegurar que la metafísica atraviese los siglos con sus círculos de adictos a las sobredosis del Ser. Los hay en todas las épocas y, por eso mismo, se requiere una nosografía filosófica del más alto rigor que refine la pesquisa: desde el propio Platón hasta el neoplatonismo pasando por Dionisio Areopagita, desde Derrida, Lévinas, Marion o Blanchot hasta la disyuntología espectrológica.
Con todo, el libro no se conforma con el diagnóstico de las adicciones de los filósofos, sino que Prósperi actúa cual William Burroughs de la filosofía y la desafía en sus propios términos. Justamente, el escritor norteamericano señalaba que los yonquis daban prueba, en cierto momento, de una falta de energía que los tornaba incapaces de disfrutar de la vida.
El lector encontrará, en este libro, un espíritu contrario donde la vida misma se torna adictiva en cada capítulo que se avanza. Pues Prósperi busca utilizar al extremo, precisamente, su fuente de sobredosis: el Ser mismo para ingresar en el tiempo de la Metanfetafísica General donde la metafísica se sobredosifica para desfundamentar al Ser y hacer entrar al pensamiento, en estado de coma, a su encuentro fóbico-fantasmático con lo Otro."
