Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2005 im Fachbereich Germanistik - Komparatistik, Vergleichende Literaturwissenschaft, Note: 2,0, Ruhr-Universität Bochum (Komparatistik), Veranstaltung: Verwandlungsgeschichten in der literarischen Moderne, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Die Metamorphose als Motiv literarischer Texte ist so alt wie die Schriftkultur Europas und hat ihren festen Platz im Mythos; doch so weit verbreitet das Motiv ist, so vielgestaltig ist es, und so unterschiedlich kann seine Bedeutung sein: In gewisser Weise verkörpert damit die Metamorphose in ihrer literatur-, kunst- und kulturgeschichtlichen Erscheinung die Wandelbarkeit, von der sie erzählt. Auf den ersten Blick scheinen die Kunstmärchen "Die kleine Seejungfrau" von Hans Christian Andersen und "Siebenhaut" von Ludwig Bechstein wenig miteinander gemein zu haben. Doch bei näherer Betrachtung fallen zunehmend Gemeinsamkeiten auf. Die auffälligste Ähnlichkeit ist die körperliche Verwandlung, welche die Protagonisten der Texte beide durchmachen. Verwandlung ist in diesem Fall wörtlich zu nehmen, also eine einschneidende äußerliche, d.h. körperliche Veränderung. Solche Verwandlungen beschreibt auch der römische Dichter Ovid in seinen Metamorphosen. Mit Bezug auf diesen antiken Text, sollen in meiner Arbeit die Kunstmärchen von Andersen und Bechstein analysiert und verglichen werden. Dabei geht es um die symbolische Bedeutung der Verwandlung im Text und dem "Tier", in das sich die Figur verwandelt. Dabei wird gefragt, warum sich die Figur verwandelt, in welcher Form die Verwandlung vonstatten geht und was die Auswirkungen davon sind. In einem letzten Teil werden vor diesem Hintergrund die Unterschiede und Gemeinsamkeiten der beiden Texte herausgearbeitet und mit Ovids Arbeit verglichen. Aufgrund der Komplexität der Begriffe, werden diese jedoch zunächst erläutert und ein Definitionsversuch gemacht.
