About the Book

The Mermaid's Tear, Book 1 in D W Towle's Tales of Tortuga saga; is a sword clashing, romance filled high seas adventure that constantly twists & turns. Kidnapped by pirates and foced to work upon their ship, Princess Valyrie Killigrew must help the Pirate King Ryze find the mystical Mermaid's Tear in exchange for returning her home. During her epic journey, Valkyrie learns that she isn't the only one with an identity to hide. I don't want to spoil any of the plot by revealing too much, but it's a pirate novel with actual literary themes on the subject of conformity. Conformity is the central subject of works like Catcher in the Rye, and is also the underlying struggle in most zombie stories, where characters struggle against doing what is right or doing what is easy. About the Author: D W Towle grew up in Green Bay, Wisconsin and attended West High School. Though he'd dreamed of becoming a writer, he couldn't find anyone to publish his first novel. He started writing music instead and after being in several bands, putting out over 20 CD's and starting a record label (Megalodon Records), he decided to try again. So in 2009, he surprised everybody when he published his first novel in the "Knight Mysteries" series. Since then he has written over fourteen novels, so far seven are published and seven are waiting patiently to be read by you. Towle was raised on good values that taught him to appreciate what he had and not what he wanted which is where he developed a fascination with the mystery and sci-fi genres. These themes eventually formed the backdrop for his books. He is a graduate of Urban Hope Business School and is currently attending Globe University for Business & Marketing, as well as focusing his attention full time to writing. He is educated in graphic design, website creation, digital cinema and creative writing from Full Sail University and studied Forensic Science from Fox Valley Technical College. Towle also is a co-founder in two paranormal organizations, WISPR (Wisconsin Society for Paranormal Research) and SPACE (Supernatural Paranormal And Close Encounters). He is also the founder of one of the original Wizard Rock bands named Cruciatus Curse, as well as a successful singer and songwriter for the bands Dark Alley Murder & AMUNRA. He is the composer of both the lyrics and music having performed in New York City and other venues. In early 2014, he founded a local award to honor outstanding young people who have the passion to promote reading, writing and help their communities: the Talon Towle Prize for Young Heroes, which honors creative minded kids each year. He is also currently writing his first film, Avalantis, which will surely shock and amaze audiences. When not writing or producing music, D W Towle spends every waking moment he can with his wonderfully diverse family. His favorite pastime is hiking, camping, or skiing in Wisconsin with his family, which he does at every opportunity.
