"Memorias de la autarquía" es una referencia casi autobiográfica en donde claramente se muestran las distintas visiones sobre una misma situación fatal, determinante, que pueden tener las diferentes personas de acuerdo con su personalidad o el segmento social al que pertenezcan. Es una historia fresca y llena de vida, pero que al mismo tiempo nos muestra la violencia y abuso familiar que sufren sus intérpretes, quienes siendo casi niños no pueden encargarse de juzgar a los responsables pero sí de convivir de la mejor manera con ellos, situación que cambia a medida que van creciendo. Sin embargo, por encima de sus diferencias y sobre todas las circunstancias que los agobian, los protagonistas logran conservar su amistad a través de las décadas; amistad que nace, crece, se pierde y vuelve a retomarse luego de la prisión de uno de ellos. "Betiana y los libros" es un cruento relato con el oscuro trasfondo de la represión militar en Argentina, narrado a la manera de "stand up patético" como aclara el mismo autor, en el cual la construcción gramatical del relato va acompañando al ritmo de la trama, haciéndose más vertiginosa y confusa en la misma medida que las circunstancias lo van exigiendo, para volverse luego más pausadas, tranquilas y longevas junto al devenir de la historia. Curiosamente, es otro relato de una amistad que nace a pesar de las diferencias aparentemente irreconciliables que las separan. Los cuentos "La risa de Lisa" y "Arena" describen el terrible flagelo del terrorismo fundamentalista que asola el mundo, de cómo esta desgracia incide en la vida de gente que intenta llevar sus actividades cotidianas en regiones muy, muy lejanas a los hechos. "La risa.." está basada en sucesos reales acontecidos en Francia, en tanto que en "Arena" encontramos una interesante combinación de diferentes expresiones idiomáticas pertenecientes a países y culturas muy distintas, volviéndola una historia tan polifacética como el terrorismo mismo del cual sus intérpretes son víctimas... o verdugos. "Arteriusclerosus..." es una historia gore como el mismo autor la describe, un relato donde el cuerpo de su protagonista se va descomponiendo a medida que se deteriora su situación personal hasta convertirse en una masa informe, fantasiosa y difícil de definir como mucho de los trabajos de Padrós Garzón, trabajos en los cuales nunca se renuncia a la literatura como herramienta de denuncia, de alerta por sobre las injusticias que sufren los débiles, los distintos, los minoritarios ante el actuar impune de los poderosos. "Pingüinos" es un breve relato con un mensaje taoísta que nos enseña a aceptar que tenemos todo lo que necesitamos y somos todo lo que podemos ser, por ende no necesitamos más que ello para ser felices. Esta breve fábula funciona como una metáfora que nos va introduciendo en las dos ficciones que finalizan el libro, "Las gallinas de Amartya" y "El niño del templo". Sin pretender ser un tratado en la materia, sus argumentos nos sitúan en la atmósfera de un templo budista en la lejana India de un lejano tiempo atrás, y no es la primera vez que el autor, de fuerte raigambre latinoamericana, se atreve a incursionar dentro de temáticas tan lejanas a su formación. Pero es que la literatura de Padrós Garzón nos lleva a eso, a explorar universos tan lejanos como ubicados dentro de nosotros mismos, a incursionar en luchas contra adversarios tan poderosos que a veces podemos ser nosotros mismos; nos lleva a sonreír pero indignarnos a la vez, nos lleva tanto a reflexionar como a involucrarnos en situaciones reales que de otro modo no conoceríamos. "Memorias de la autarquía" es un libro lleno de bellas historias a pesar de la injusticia y los abusos que están denunciando así, como al pasar, mientras nos reímos un rato.
