Melanie Barton RN is a beautiful nurse with a quirky habit of placing pens and pencils in her blonde bun while caring for patients at work. Her blonde bouquet of absently pilfered pens follows her home - past her ceramic cat clock, her hanging beads, and brightly colors - and is finally found when it's time to don her stilettos and look for love.
Cody Terence Peters MD is a handsome, charismatic doctor who loves the bachelor life. He learned early on that plumbers make more money than doctors, so he switched careers. During the week hangs up his stethoscope and makes house calls as a plumber. On weekends he puts on the white coat and takes calls for another doctor.
His bachelor lifestyle is constantly criticized by Cody's mother and by his peers, but he has his mind made up - nobody can force him to hang up his playboy hat and settle down.
