About the Book

STARTING AS A MEMOIR AND REALIZING THAT THE PIECES OF THE HISTORY WERE AVAILABLE AND COULD SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES, THE AUTHOR HAS TAKEN HIS STORY AND MIXED IT WITH FRIENDS, IN SOME CASES OF OVER 75 YEARS, TO A BLEND OF LIFE STARTING IN THE EARLY 1930'S AND CONTINUING TO THE PRESENT. AT HIS PARENT'S KNEES HE COMMENCED A LIFE OF TRAVEL AND ADVENTURE, INCLUDING A CAMPING TRIP ACROSS THESE UNITED STATES BEFORE INTERSTATES. FOLLOWED BY AN EXTENSIVE PARTICIPATION IN BOY SCOUTING, THE WORLD BROADENED FURTHER AS HE WAS TRAINED AS A PUBLIC SPEAKER BY THE SCOUTS. SOON I WAS AT PRESENTATION CEREMONIES, NATIONAL EVENTS AND PLAIN OLD FASHIONED CHATS WITH PEOPLE OF RENOWN. SERVICE IN THE NEW YORK NATIONAL GUARD WHICH WAS FOLLOWED BY AN ENLISTMENT IN THE UNITED STATES COAST GUARD IN 1951TO 1954; WHILE THE COUNTRY WAS IN THE HEAT OF THE WAR IN KOREA, IN WHICH HE PARTICIPATED. ALONG THE WAY JOSH MET FELLOW SCOUTS, NEIGHBORS, FOLKS IN THE CITIES AND OTHERS WHO HAVE NEVER BEEN TO NEW YORK, SERVICE MEMBERS, AVIATORS AND CIVIL AND PUBLIC SERVANTS. NOW PUTTING MANY OF THESE PIECES TOGETHER, HISTORY WORTH REPEATING IS A LIVING COMPENDIUM OF TRAVELS, MEETINGS; CHANGES IN THE WAY OF OUR LIVES COME TOGETHER. GATHERING THE FACTS FROM THE SOURCE, HE FOUND THAT THE ACTORS WERE IN MOST CASES ALIVE AND HAPPY TO JOIN IN THIS PUBLICATION, SO THAT IT IS A REAL CASE OF MEETING PEOPLE, GOING PLACES, WITNESS TO CHANGE THAT MAKES THIS "HISTORY WORTH REPEATING." JOSHUA IS A NATIVE NEW YORKER, BORN YARDS FROM FLOYD BENNETT AND J, F. KENNEDY AIRPORTS, IT IS NO WONDER HIS EYES HAVE ALWAYS BEEN TURNED SKYWARD. TRAINED FIRST AS A SEAPLANE PILOT, AND AT THE SAME TIME A BOATS-MAN AND SAILOR, HE WENT ON TO BECOME A FULL FLEDGED STUDENT AND PRODUCT OF THE NEW YORK CITY PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM, LONG ISLAND UNIVERSITY AND BROOKLYN LAW SCHOOL. DURING ALL OF THIS TIME, JOSH LED A LIFE AS A CITY KID AND COUNTRY BOY AND THE MAINTENANCE OF THE ACQUAINTANCES' OF HIS LIFETIME TO THIS DAY. THE BOOK ALSO PRESENTS A SERIES OF WORLDLY, MECHANICAL AND PERSONNEL CHANGES THAT OCCUR WHEN ONE MAINTAINS FRIENDSHIPS FOR NEARLY 80 YEARS. TAKE A MOMENT AND THINK - MUCH OF THESE MEMORIES OCCURED BEFORE TV, AUTO STARTERS AND CLUTCH PEDALS AND NO COMPUTERS. NO ADDING MACHINES, NO EVERYDAY TOOL OF TODAY. THE AUTHOR, JOSH AND HIS WIFE BONNIE RESIDE JUST OUTSIDE OF PENSACOLA, FLORIDA IN A WORKING FORM OF RETIREMENT
