Medievalario, un bestiario medieval está formado por tres novelas históricas cortas y un relato final que retratan una Edad Media cruel y despiadada, pero también hermosa y tierna. Cada historia se centra en un orden social: monjes, caballeros, campesinos... y, finalmente, el rey, como símbolo del conjunto de la sociedad.

  • De correctione rusticorum cuenta la historia de Martiño de Braga, uno de los monjes que más hizo en los albores de la Edad Media por imponer el dominio de la iglesia romana frente a herejías y creencias paganas.
  • El bando perdedor, basada en hechos reales, se centra en la figura de Lopo Feixoo de Milmanda, un noble que, harto de malvivir como guarda de mercaderes tras traicionar a los suyos, se dirige a una fortaleza asediada en busca de un nuevo señor al que servir.
  • El husmo de la tierra es la historia del pequeño Roi, un chiquillo campesino que vive en una posada del camino de Santiago, de padre desconocido y tan hermoso que todos le creen hijo del demonio.
  • Con los fierros es el relato de los últimos días del rey García II de Galicia, un desdichado personaje prisionero de su hermano Alfonso VI.

Son novelas de lectura independiente, pero al leerlas en conjunto el libro cobra mayor sentido.
