Inhaltsangabe: Einleitung: Die Frage, deren Beantwortung Ziel dieser Arbeit sein wird, ist, wie die Verantwortlichen von Loft Story bereits bei der Planung die Entwicklungen im Loft in ihren Grundzügen vorwegnehmen, den Zuschauer dabei aber möglichst in dem Glauben zu belassen, alles entwickle sich ohne Eingriffe von außen. Das Hauptaugenmerk dieser Arbeit richtet sich demnach auf die mediale Inszenierung von Authentizität. Gang der Untersuchung: Ausgegangen wird dabei von den Rahmungen, die der Sendung in vielerlei Gestalt übergestülpt werden. Sie manifestieren sich in dem Regelwerk, dem Wohnraum sowie in der Auswahl und Stilisierung der Kandidaten. Sie geben einen Rahmen vor, innerhalb dessen sich die Geschehnisse zielgerichtet entwickeln und gleichzeitig als authentisch wahrgenommen werden sollen. Ferner sollen die Rahmungen der französischen denen der deutschen Version gegenübergestellt werden, um unterschiedliche Inszenierungsstrategien zu erkennen. Aufgezeigte Unterschiede sollen dann, sofern möglich, auf kulturelle Hintergründe zurückgeführt werden. An dieser Stelle sei angemerkt, dass der Fokus der Arbeit auf der französischen Version ‚Loft Story' liegt und Vergleiche, sofern nicht anders vermerkt, mit der ersten Staffel von Big Brother in Deutschland gezogen werden. Dabei wir wie folgt vorgegangen: Im theoretischen Rahmen soll zunächst auf den Begriff der ‚Authentizität', der im Zusammenhang mit dem Gezeigten in den Vorankündigungen missbräuchlich genutzt worden ist, näher eingegangen werden, wobei sowohl die ‚endemolsche' Definition als auch die ursprüngliche Bedeutung dargelegt wird. Weitere, für die Arbeit grundlegende Begriffe, wie die der ‚Theatralität', der ‚Inszenierung', und der ‚Selbstinszenierung' werden anschließend geklärt. Wie die Ankündigung der Sendung in Frankreich als fiction réelle bereits andeutet, spielt das Format mit den Oppositionen Realität und Fiktion. Inwiefern das Fernsehen allgemein Orientierungsmuster für das ‚reale Leben'
