About the Book

About Meanderings of My Mind, Patricia Porter, and Manor Publishing CollectivePatricia Jean Jones was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri. She started writing when she was ten years old. There are two poems, included in this book, that she wrote when she was twelve years old. Poems written earlier are now nowhere to be found. The two included in this volume from her early years are "Rain" and "Tomorrow."At sixteen, Patricia met and married Robert F. Porter and they had four children, two of whom are mirror twins, which is the most identical they could be. She continued writing through moves to New Orleans, Louisiana, Los Angeles, California, and now, San Diego, California, where she is extremely happy and still writing. As an adult, Patricia's "Letter to Santa," contained in this volume, was previously published in a local newspaper, and "Colors" was published in The National Library of Poetry.Unfortunately, several boxes of Patricia's writings have disappeared over the years, but she's hoping some of them will find their way back to her. Patricia Porter is a new member of Manor Publishing Collective and we're glad to have her romantic take on life to expand our catalog of books written by seniors. The Manor Publishing Collective (MPC), founded by Sunny J. Baker, Ph.D., is a unique venture of former authors and would-be authors who want to share their ideas, experiences and creativity with the world-but who don't necessarily want to learn the technologies of the 21st Century to make it happen.Dr. Baker's background in computers and experience writing 28 books with traditional publishers, fueled the idea while having lunch with the talented residents at St. Paul's Manor in San Diego. Dr. Baker, along with her interns, produces the books, designs the covers and completes the marketing for the books. The other members of the collective simply write and create! The first members of MPC, all over 65 years old, live at St. Paul's Manor, an independent seniors' community in San Diego, California. Currently, the average age of the 120 residents is 82 years of productive living. The shared royalties for MPC books are exactly that, shared by members of MPC and with the St. Paul's Manor residents to improve the facility, the technology and entertainment options available to enhance their retirement. The oldest MPC author today is Glenn Flenniken, 96, who is still writing experiential poetry like crazy. His first two volumes, My Early Years: The First Sixty or So... and More Years: From Early to Later are already available. He has at least two more volumes under contract. As one of the last living veterans who survived World War II, you owe it to yourself to read his insightful narratives. We know you'll enjoy Patricia Porter's heartfelt and romantic take on life as well in Meanderings of My Mind, her first book published by MPC.If you enjoy a little wit and a romantic take on life, please look for Glenn's and Patricia's books online! They are a great, inexpensive escape for a worthy cause. You can find all the MPC books written by seniors at www.manorcollective.com or booksbyseniors.com.
