About the Book

English summary: This work is the first edition of the Peri katarchon, an astrological poem dealing with the influence of the moon and zodiac on the outcome of human activities. The translation of this text is based on the principles of modern philology and is the first translation available in a living language. The translation is preceded by an introduction that deals with the problem of the attribution of the Peri katarchon to Maximus of Ephesus, as well as the language, the metrics, and the handwritten tradition of the poem.
