Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2008 im Fachbereich Soziologie - Klassiker und Theorierichtungen, Note: 1,5, Pädagogische Hochschule Ludwigsburg (Institut für Soziologie und pädagogische Psychologie), Veranstaltung: Einführung in die allgemeine Soziologie, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Max Weber wird am 21. April 1864 im thüringischen Erfurt geboren. Im gleichen Jahr kommen zwei gesellschaftliche Strömungen zum Tragen, mit denen sich Weber im Laufe seines Lebens beschäftigt. Zum einen der Marxismus, der im September in London durch Karl Marx und Friedrich Engels in der Ersten Internationalen gegründet wird. Und zum anderen durch Papst Pius IX, der im Dezember seinen Kreuzzug gegen Liberalismus und Nationalismus vor dem Hintergrund der italienischen Nationalbewegung beginnt. Max Weber stammt aus einer wohlhabenden Familie. Sein Vater war Abgeordneter im preußischen Reichstag, sodass Max Weber bereits in jungen Jahren häuslichen Kontakt mit Politikern und Gelehrten wie Wilhelm Dilthey und Rudolf von Bennigsen hat. Seine Schulzeit, die er mit dem Abitur 1882 beendet, langweilt ihn eher, sodass er sich lieber mit der antiken Klassik, der Philosophie und geschichtlichen Themen befasst. Er studiert in Heidelberg Jura und promoviert im Alter von 25 Jahren. Anschließend habilitiert er über " die Römische Agrargeschichte in ihrer Bedeutung für das Staats- und Privatrecht". Gleichzeitig schreibt er im Auftrag des Vereins für Socialpolitik, dem er seit 1888 angehört, einen 900 Seiten langen Bericht über die "Landarbeiter-Enquete", der ihm wohlmöglich einen Ruf über Berlin hinausreichend ermöglicht. 1893 hält er um die Hand seiner Großnichte Marianne Schnitger einer Frauenrechtlerin und Schriftstellerin an und wird zeitlebens von dieser geprägt. Bereits ein Jahr später nimmt Weber im Alter von 29 Jahren einen Lehrstuhl für Volkswirtschaftslehre in Freiburg an. Zwei Jahre später folgt ein Lehrstuhl für Soziologie in Heidelberg.
