La enseñanza de la matemática, ha estado impregnada de un mecanicismo que la ha alejado de la cotidianidad del discente, desde una pedagogía tradicional que ha provocado rechazo y desconocimiento de utilidad y trascendencia de la ciencia. Desde una investigación cualitativa y metodología hermenéutica se ha fundamentado epistemológicamente la tríada: Matemática-cotidianidad-pedagogía integral, en la relación ciencia-vida y el clima cultural del presente. Ésta tríada es un constructo que llama al rescate de la matemática en el aula a través del uso de los tres canales de aprendizaje, el dialogo como herramienta que lleva a la relación sujeto-sujeto, donde el estudiante se apropia de su aprendizaje; rescatando para ello el amor y pasión por la ciencia, usando elementos de su cotidianidad y cultura. Se da otra mirada de la matemática, un recorrido de la epistemología de la matemática y su enseñanza a la luz de nuevas investigaciones que liberan las subjetividades y complejidad del individuo, se reconstruye el perfil del docente de matemática, formado en historia y filosofía, semiótica, psicología, sociología, didáctica de la matemática; y un ser ético-crítico de su praxis.
