Do you believe that God orchestrates the details of our lives?
Do you believe that He will bring beauty out of ashes when we choose to trust Him? It took me a long time to understand this, but I can say that I have experienced it firsthand. This story that you are about to read is not just my story or my husband's story, but ultimately it is God's story of us. As you read it, you will see how God's hand was weaving a cord of three strands together into one beautiful and unbroken connection. I would have never believed that from my ordinary story to Tom's ordinary story, God could turn it into an extraordinary love story, beauty from ashes. Does it turn out to be, "and they lived happily ever after?" Unfortunately, not on this earth but someday in Heaven. What God has joined together, no man can separate. I am so thankful that I will forever be a "cord of three strands" with my best friend for all eternity. I know that we will no longer be husband and wife but so much more.
For both of us, our relationship felt like a fairy tale since we both had been waiting for the one who would want us for "happily ever after." But God's love story for us wasn't a fairy tale. It was real.
--Once in a while, right in the middle of an ordinary life... love comes along and brings you a fairy tale--
(This is a framed word picture in our apartment that we bought to describe how we felt about our relationship.)
I lived my whole life not truly understanding what "love" is. Don't get me wrong, I had loving parents who pointed me to the love of Jesus, but it took circumstances over the last 28 years of my life to fully show me what "love" is. The world defines love as an intense feeling or emotion that is usually connected to our physical feelings. This story will show you how God can take two ordinary lives and turn them into an extraordinary love story written by Him.
Our story starts with a man named Tom and a woman named Diane. This story ultimately is God's story. He chose to bring us out of that since He had a bigger plan than either of us imagined for ourselves.
What I now understand on the other side of our story is that we were destined to meet, and it was all according to God's timing. God knew we would need each other for the season that would lay ahead.
