Estamos ante un caso paradigmático para entender los artilugios con los que opera la Masonería en la realidad fáctica, con el objeto de organizar el sistema político liberal. Para crear el nuevo Estado burgués al estilo europeo había que liquidar el precario orden federal. Y el federalismo moriría por sus propias contradicciones, pero fundamentalmente, por la perseverancia de los masones unitarios de Buenos Aires, y entre ellos, particularmente por obra del General Mitre.Don Bartolo y los suyos representaban la Civilización y el Progreso. De su mano vinieron la propiedad privada y el libre comercio. Hoy la palabra progreso tiene un significado ambiguo, desgastada como tantos otros términos por el abuso en su letanía, pero en el tiempo que nos adentramos, significaba todo lo mejor a lo que podía aspirar el ser humano.Aquí no nos interesa particularmente dilucidar la Hermandad en sus diferentes variantes, ni sus templos ni sus ritos. Eso no nos compete. En realidad, lo que nos atrae es conocer el fenómeno Mitre conectado a la Masonería, relacionado en todo momento a la trama oculta para que sirva de ejemplo clarificador. Si bien nuestro protagonista estará acompañado en el firmamento local de muchas otras luminarias masónicas.A partir de ahora, nos vamos a apropiar de la leyenda de Mitre para establecer un 'caso testigo' del poder opaco y secreto ejercido por una élite ilustrada. Es decir, trasparentar el hilo invisible de los acontecimientos venideros. El General Mitre fue una celebridad innegable de su tiempo; nada se hacía en los ámbitos liberales y conservadores sin consultarlo previamente, siendo un persistente formador de opinión. Con su desaparición física, terminaría una época dorada de los gobiernos de la Masonería vernácula, obedeciendo a la Logia del rito celeste escocés, a la línea anglosajona.Este trabajo no pretende analizar la Masonería en la actualidad, y menos aún, participar en el lavado de imagen sobre su oscuro pasado. Vano intento pues, cuando ya lograron el objetivo estratégico de infiltrar todas las capas de la sociedad, modificando sus tradiciones, secularizando sus costumbres, manipulando a las masas, alterando la escala de valores, precedida por el culto al éxito y el dinero.
