English summary: French translation of Martianus Capella's De nuptiis Philologiae et Mercurii. In this allegorical tale in verse, the author weaves the marriage of Philology and Mercury into a description of knowledge and the liberal arts, melding philosophy and religion and inspired by Neoplatonism. French description: Les noces de Philologie et de Mercure de Martianus Capella (Martiani Minei Felicis Capellae De nuptiis Philologiae et Mercurii), un prosimetrum compose de 9 livres, transmettent les savoirs specifiques aux arts liberaux. Les deux premiers livres de cette encyclopedie, composee a Carthage vraisemblablement au debut du Ve siecle de notre ere par un avocat qui ne livre que des informations enigmatiques sur lui, mettent en scene le cadre allegorique du recit. Dans le livre I, le dieu Mercure, fils bien-aime et interprete des pensees de Jupiter, demande le droit d'epouser Philologie, une vierge tres docte, capable de contraindre les dieux a satisfaire sa soif de connaissances. Un double prologue (un hymne a Hymenee puis un recit en prose autoparodique) ouvre le conte philosophique; le recit met alors en scene le Cyllenien en quete d'une epouse, mais seul Apollon Pythien peut reveler le nom de l'epouse ideale. La traversee perilleuse d'espaces surnaturels, l'ascension celeste, la consultation d'Apollon Musagete puis de Sa Majeste Jupiter, enfin la convocation du Conseil des dieux par Jupiter Maitre supreme sont l'occasion d'exposes theologiques parfois mysterieux. Apres une allocution solennelle de Jupiter, le livre I se clot sur la proclamation des noces pour le lendemain. Melant le rire au serieux, le recit offre un syncretisme philosophique et religieux inspire essentiellement du neoplatonisme et des Oracles Chaldaiques. L'expose des connaissances, jusqu'a l'enseignement d'Harmonie au livre IX, se presente comme un cheminement spirituel initiatique dont les principes sont deja enonces dans le cadre de la fiction poetique des livres I et II. Le livre I peut ainsi etre concu comme une encyclopedie spirituelle transmise sous le voile de la fantaisie du mythe. Les noces de Philologie et de Mercure, testament du paganisme antique, ne seront redecouvertes qu'au debut du IXe siecle. L'edition critique publiee dans ce volume s'appuie principalement sur la lecture de 7 manuscrits du IXe siecle, dont 3 n'avaient pas ete collationnes pour le livre I par A. Dick (Stuttgart, Teubner 1925, reedition 1978) ou J. Willis (Leipzig, Teubner, 1983). L'introduction insiste sur le contexte litteraire et philosophique avant de presenter la tradition manuscrite. Le texte a deja ete plusieurs fois traduit, par exemple en anglais par W. H. Stahl, R. Johnson et E. L. Burge (New York, 1977), en italien par I. Ramelli (Milan, 2001) et par L. Cristante, I. Filip, L. Lenaz (Hildesheim, 2011), mais aussi en francais par V. Di Natale (dans la revue Dedale 11-12, 2000). Dans cette nouvelle traduction une attention particuliere a ete consacree au rythme des vers de ce prosimetrum.
