MARIO BE es el alter ego de José Miguel Martínez R. quién nace y crece en un pequeño pueblo rural de España. Desde muy joven se da cuenta de que su personalidad, su sensibilidad, su apreciación estética del mundo que le rodea y su gran capacidad intelectual, no se corresponden con la identidad y el núcleo familiar que el destino le ha asignado. Debido a la pasión y a la destreza con la cuál maneja los video-juegos digitales, sus compañeros lo apodan Mario Be, poniendo de referencia al mismísimo Súper Mario Bros. Este homónimo se convierte en una sombra bajo la cuál nuestro personaje consigue abrirse camino en el mundo al que cree pertenecer. Su estudios le llevan a convertirse en un profesional de la informática, brillante, y dotado con suficientes herramientas para convertirse en millonario. Mario Be nos cuenta su historia, sus tribulaciones y sus delirantes conflictos de personalidad, a partir del momento en que se descubre el cadáver de su mejor amiga en una playa de Mallorca. La narración nos pasea por sus emociones, por el intrincado mundo del arte contemporáneo y de la vida del underground londinense. Nos lleva también hasta Nueva York adónde conoceremos las circunstancias que rodearon la trágica muerte de su amiga, Laura Vidal. El destino final de esas dos personalidades que coexisten dentro de un mismo ser, es un viaje hacia la pertenencia a una sociedad de consumo que compra todo aquello que esté a la venta, como objeto del deseo.
About the Author: Vesna Zeta Mimiça nació en Santiago de Chile. Cursó estudios de Filosofía en la Universidad Católica de Valparaíso. Estudió Arte en Corcoran School of Art en Washington D.C. Fue gestora y creativa de Comunicación Publicitaria en Bogotá, Colombia, durante quince años. En ese país publicó su libro Poema Visual, con textos y fotografías de autor, que ganó el primer premio de la Feria Internacional del Libro de Ginebra, en 1985 Actualmente vive y trabaja en Mallorca, España. Desde Europa ha sido corresponsal de varias revistas. Su actividad principal se ha centrado en las artes visuales. Su obra se ha expuesto en importantes galerías y centros de arte en Europa y Latinoamérica. Sus creaciones incluyen pintura, escultura y obra gráfica. Sus Performances e Instalaciones incluyen video arte y danza contémporanea. Su proyecto artístico "Un paseo por el jardín interior", una instalación de carácter conceptual, fue propuesto a la 54 edición del Festival de Venecia. Los últimos años se ha dedicado a la creación literaria. Su novela, Cisnes de cuello negro, está basada en la historia de la colonización de Tierra del Fuego y los inmigrantes procedentes de Croacia, lugar de origen de sus ancestros.
