L'autore "impiega" il guardiamarina Giuseppe Aonzo, uno degli artefici dell'ardita azione di Premuda del 10 giugno 1918 (affondamento della corazzata "Santo Stefano"), per farne la voce narrante di un collage di storie di pura fantasia. La sola vicenda reale, infatti, è esclusivamente quella dell'affondamento della nave, che l'autore fa descrivere dall'eroe di guerra durante il viaggio in treno intrapreso dallo stesso un mese dopo l'azione. L'autore, di Pietra Ligure, e, quindi, savonese come l'Aonzo, tratteggia il carattere del comandante facendo riferimento alla propria cultura ligure. Come ufficiale della Marina militare, l'autore si immedesima nel personaggio e nelle storie che intorno a lui si dipanano, facendo tesoro delle proprie esperienze di marinaio. L'autore si augura che, attraverso la lettura di questo breve romanzo, possa nascere nei lettori la curiosità verso la storia militare marittima, particolarmente nell'approssimarsi del centenario dell'eroica impresa.
About the Author: Giuseppe Sfacteria. Nato a Pietra Ligure (SV) il 3 marzo 1964, è principalmente il papà di due bellissime bambine: Ludovica e Maddalena. Si è diplomato al liceo classico di Albenga (SV) e laureato in giurisprudenza presso l'Università di Genova. Dopo il servizio militare da Ufficiale di complemento, svolto presso la Capitaneria di Porto di Genova (1991), a seguito di concorso pubblico è stato immesso (1992), nei ruoli del servizio permanente, nel corpo di Commissariato Militare Marittimo. Ha prestato servizio su Unità navali e presso Comandi a terra, sempre nelle condizioni di elevata operatività che contraddistingue la Marina militare. Come Commissario di Marina è stato imbarcato sulla Nave scuola "Amerigo Vespucci" (Sottotenente di Vascello), sul Cacciatorpediniere "Audace" (Tenente di Vascello) ed ha curato l'allestimento della Nave ammiraglia della Squadra Navale, la Portaerei "Cavour" (Capitano di Corvetta). A terra ha prestato servizio, in due distinte occasioni, presso il Raggruppamento Subacquei ed Incursori "Teseo Tesei" (COMSUBIN), comando di cui, nel periodo 2009-2012, ha retto il Servizio Amministrativo/Logistico (Capitano di Fregata). Attualmente, nel grado di Capitano di Vascello, è Capo dell'Ufficio "Consulenza legale" presso il Comando Marittimo Nord della Spezia. Ha pubblicato alcuni "racconti di vita militare" su riviste online di carattere militare (www.paginedidifesa.it e www.difesaonline.it). Pratica sport, in particolare nuoto e running.
