About the Book

The Man Who Knew by Edgar Wallace - The body lay on the sidewalk in Bloomsbury, central London, attracting a small crowd. The man's lips were set in a sneer, and his half-closed eyes were small."He was seen to stagger and fall, and by the time I arrived he'd snuffed out," the policeman told Constable Wiseman, who was among the crowd. It was about that time when a shabbily dressed man with large gold-rimmed spectacles pulled a newspaper advertisement from the dead man's waistcoat pocket. "At the Yard," the constable whispered, "we call him The Man Who Knows"... English author Richard Horatio Edgar Wallace (1875-1932) left school at 12 and joined the army at 21. He was a war correspondent for Reuters and the Daily Mail and wrote thrillers for extra money. Wallace later moved to Hollywood as a script writer for RKO but died while drafting King Kong. Wallace also wrote screen plays, poetry and historical non-fiction. He sold more than 50 million copies of his work. The Economist describes him as one of the most prolific thriller writers of the 20th century.
About the Author: Edgar Wallace About the Author English author Edgar Wallace (1875-1932) was an illegitimate child who left school at 12. He joined the army at 21 and was a war correspondent for Reuters and the Daily Mail. Struggling with debt, he left South Africa, returned to London, and began writing thrillers to raise income. He published The Four Just Men (1905) and Sanders of the River (1911). After a bid as Liberal MP for Blackpool, Wallace moved to Hollywood, where he worked as a script writer for RKO studios. Wallace was such a prolific writer that one of his publishers claimed that a quarter of all books in England were written by him. He died from diabetes during the initial drafting of King Kong (1933).
