About the Book

A complex of over 40 concentration and extermination camps, known as Auschwitz was annexed into Germany and Holocaust in 1939 during World War II .Auschwitz I, the main camp (Stammlager) was in Owicim; Auschwitz II-Birkenau, a camp with gas chambers; Auschwitz III-(Monowitz), a labor camp for the chemical company IG Farben; and several subcamps made up the complex. The concentration camps were a key location for the Nazis' ultimate solution to the Jewish problem. The Schutzstaffel (SS), an army garrison, turned Auschwitz I into a prisoner-of-war camp after Germany invaded Poland in September 1939 during World War II.Nearly all of the first prisoners taken to Auschwitz were Poles whom the camp was originally built for.For the first two years, the majority of the prisoners were Poles.
German criminals who were brought to the camp as employees in May 1940 helped to develop the camp's reputation for sadism.Prisoners were mistreated for the smallest offenses, then beaten, tortured, and killed.Around August 1941, the first gassings-of Soviet and Polish prisoners-took place in block 11 of Auschwitz I.The following month, Auschwitz II's construction got underway, and from early 1942 through late 1944, freight trains transported Jews to its death chambers from all over German-occupied Europe.1.1 million of the 1.3 million people who were deported to Auschwitz were killed.960,000 Jews (865,000 of whom were gassed upon arrival),74,000 ethnic Poles,21,000 Roma, 15,000 Soviet Pows, and maybe up to 15,000 other Europeans were among those killed. Those who were not gassed died from malnutrition, exhaustion, illness, executions, or beatings.
Then Mala Zimetbaum, a Jewish woman planned an escape and she successfully did it In reality, she escaped from the death camp. This book will let you how she escaped.
