Parti de Brest en 1766 à la tête d'une mission diplomatique et scientifique, Bougainville débarquait le 6 avril 1768 à Tahiti. À travers ce carnet de voyage imaginaire, l'auteur a reconstitué l'épopée extraordinaire d'Ahutoru premier Tahitien venu en Europe à bord de la Boudeuse de Louis Antoine de Bougainville. Ce récit palpitant, précis et fort bien documenté, vous conduira des rivages de l'univers de Robinson Crusoë aux alcôves mystérieuses de la Cour de Louis XV au delà des océans et des grands espaces. Enfin un peu d'air du grand large... Étrange mystère que la vie dramatique de cet homme otage des "Lumières", première victime de la colonisation française et cependant ignoré ou oublié par les siens. Ce petit carnet de bord imaginaire espère contribuer à réparer l'injustice et le préjudice fatal qu'on lui a fait subir.
About the Author: Durant ses études de lettres modernes à la Sorbonne et passionné par la littérature du siècle des Lumières, il suit avec ferveur les cours du grand médiéviste Michel Mollat sur les Grands voyages et la connaissance du monde . En 1973, après sa titularisation comme professeur de lettres-histoire, c'est en toute logique que Philippe Victor Prudhomme, demande et obtient, comme un signe du destin, une affectation au lycée Louis Antoine de Bougainville de Port-Vila (ex Nouvelles-Hébrides). Et c'est presque tout au long de sa carrière qu'il sera nommé dans le sillage de ce grand navigateur. En 1976, dans le cadre d'une pédagogie novatrice, il contribue à l'élaboration d'une méthode d'enseignement du français langue étrangère et publie à Port-Vila, en 1979 son premier ouvrage, Découvrir les Nouvelles-Hébrides, immédiatement traduit en anglais. Sa bonne Étoile (nom du navire accompagnateur de la Boudeuse) le conduit ensuite à La Réunion, à Nouméa, à Tahiti puis à Wallis... sur les traces de Bougainville pour achever son Tour du Monde là où il avait commencé, au lycée Benjamin Franklin (ami de Bougainville...), près de Melun en 2004. Avant son départ à la retraite, il reçoit les palmes académiques pour ses différents travaux pédagogiques et sa contribution à la promotion de la langue et de la culture française dans les DOM-TOM. Depuis, il a choisi de résider à Tahiti où il continue à consacrer ses loisirs et ses activités culturelles en publiant ses recherches sur l'Océanie du XVIIIème siècle. En 2006, sous le pseudonyme d'Edouard Bradey, il édite un roman historique intitulé, (en clin d'oeil à Diderot), Le complément au voyage de Bougainville qui retrace le voyage d'Ahutoru en France. Réédité en 2012 sous le titre La Malédiction de la tortue, ou le fabuleux voyage d'Ahutoru En 2009, il fonde l'association des Amis de Bougainville. En 2010, il publie aux éditions Haere 'po son premier roman policier On rit jaune à Tahiti qui lui vaut le prix des étudiants de l'Université de Polynésie Française. La même année, il crée un site internet pour commémorer le bicentenaire de la mort du grand navigateur (lesamisdebougainville.wifeo.com) dont il publie l'année suivante la première biographie complète intitulée Le mystère Bougainville, en fin août 2011. En juin 2012, il édite un nouveau roman policier à compte d'auteur Chienne de vie à Tahiti .
