Life for Zane and Nina is going better than expected. The couple symbolically ties the knot on Zane's former eviction date and discovers a few months later that they are expecting Zane Jr. The nursery is outfitted, the maternity photos are framed, the baby shower invitations are in the mail, and the couple is looking forward to the future. However, life rarely goes as planned.
Zane Jr. makes an unexpected arrival on the day of the baby shower, but it's not the Zane Jr. they expected.
"Were y'all expecting anyone else?" Mrs. O'Neil asked once she heard the chime of the doorbell.
"Not to my knowledge. Everyone is present and accounted for," Nina replied before accepting a forkful of cake from her husband.
"I'll get it," Zane offered.
"Don't worry about it, Zany. Your mother-in-law will get the door."
Mrs. O'Neil returned to the living room looking pale as a ghost.
"Mom? What's the matter?" Nina curiously asked.
"Um...um-"
Before finishing her sentence, a tall, shaggy-haired boy entered the living room, immediately locking eyes with Zane.
"Are you Zane Doran?"
"That's me. How can I help you?"
"I'm Zane Matthews, and I'm your son."
Zane and Nina are thrown for a loop when twelve-year-old orphan, Zane Jr., arrives on their doorstep. Neither one of them knew of Zane Jr's existence. Not only do they have to adjust to being parents to a newborn, but to an angsty, ill-mannered pre-teen as well.
Follow the Dorans as they navigate parenthood, heal old wounds, and grow as a family.
