About the Book

The history of Cuba for the past 56 years is marked by mass emigration of the island. About three million Cubans have left the island to all over the world and almost two million are concentrated in the United States, mostly in South Florida. It is symptomatic that in 1959 with the advent of a socialist revolution that self titled defender of the majority and promoter of a bright future abroad has released an enormous amount of its population of around twenty percent. This massive exodus has assumed the most varied forms, from deportation, escape to fantasy and tragic forced expulsion of massive waves of humans, without the world condemn the regime misgoverns the island for over half a century. The tragedy is not only the exodus itself but also in the attacks, repression and violation of human rights all those human beings who have suffered as a state policy. For others not only the Cuban population has left has been severed their human rights, those who remained on the island have also been captives and hostages of the regime, has put them in the dilemma of supporting the communist government or being drawn into others exodus that never seem to end. An entire people faced between siblings, friends and co-workers, neighbors and citizens as a method of social division and ideological intolerance. The story told in this testimony are the personal experiences of the author happened to be a young revolutionary, born under Fidel Castro Cuban socialism to become a stateless person in this long and infinite human history of disappointment and frustration.
