About the Book

Este trabalho resulta de pesquisa sobre mídia e esfera pública e tem por objetivo compreender os fenômenos provocados pela evolução dos novos meios de comunicação e o uso das mídias sociais nos levantes do Oriente Médio, ocorridos a partir de dezembro de 2010, denominados Primavera Árabe. Buscamos investigar o papel das tecnologias de comunicação e informação na constituição de uma esfera pública virtualizada e internacionalizada. Também é nosso objetivo identificar a relação entre tal esfera e a mídia, e explicar o uso das mídias sociais como ferramentas de ação política desterritorializada. Para tanto, nossa metodologia inclui o levantamento bibliográfico de estudos já realizados sobre o assunto, e de temas relacionados nas Ciências Políticas e na Comunicação Social. Como referências principais, trabalhamos com Habermas (1984) e (2003), Lévy (1998 - 2010), Castells (2000), Santaela (2012) e Briggs & Burke (2003).
