Im Februar 2018 stirbt Chen Yangwa im Alter von 88 Jahren. Er lebte als Bauer in Luluba, einem Dorf in der chinesischen Provinz Shaanxi. Chen Yangwas einziger Sohn und seine zwei ältesten Töchter bleiben im Dorf und leben als Bauern in ihren angestammten Rollen. Seine anderen vier Töchter ergreifen die Chancen im sich rasch entwickelnden China und verlassen die Heimat, ohne die engen Bindungen zur Familie jemals zu verlieren. Der Autor dieser Familiensaga lässt den Leser tief eintauchen in ein China, das wohl nur die wenigsten kennen. Der Roman erhält dadurch seine Besonderheit, dass alles, was darin über das Leben der Familie geschildert wird, tatsächlich so geschehen ist. Das macht ihn authentisch, ehrlich und faszinierend.
About the Author: Manfred Görk, 1954 geboren, studierte Volkswirtschaft und lebt heute bei Heidelberg. Er war über viele Jahre in internationalen Projekten tätig, die ihn rund um den Globus führten. Nach seiner beruflichen Karriere wendete er sich dem Schreiben zu. Er ist ein ausgesprochener Kenner Chinas und macht das Leben in diesem riesigen und vielfältigen Land zum Inhalt seiner Bücher und Videofilme. Aus seiner Freundschaft mit einer chinesischen Bauernfamilie ist dieser Roman entstanden, der den Aufstieg dieser Familie auf authentische Weise über Generationen nachzeichnet, exemplarisch für die neueren Entwicklungen in Chinas ländlichem Raum.
