Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2012 im Fachbereich Soziologie - Allgemeines und Theorierichtungen, Note: 3,0, Technische Universität Dresden (Institut für Soziologie), Veranstaltung: Soziologische Kontroversen, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: In der Soziologie herrscht seit ihrem Bestehen ein Multiparadigmatismus vor, der zwar die Disziplin selbst bereichert, aber einen gezielten Vergleich diverser soziologischer Theorien aus verschiedenen Denkrichtungen stark erschwert oder teilweise gar unmöglich macht. Eine Idee, diesem Mangel an Vergleichsmöglichkeiten entgegenzutreten ist Essers Modell der soziologischen Erklärung. Jedoch stellt sich hier die Frage, inwieweit es möglich ist, den multiparadigmatischen Zustand in welchem sich die Soziologie befindet zu überwinden indem man eine integrative Theorie zu entwerfen versucht, ohne dass schon bestehende Theoriegebilde verloren gehen, bzw. außen vor gelassen werden. Aus diesen Überlegungen heraus entwickelten sich ein Disput zwischen Esser und Luhmann, welche dieser Idee der integrativen Sozialtheorie gegensätzlich gegenüberstehen. Ziel der vorliegenden Arbeit ist es nun, der soziologischen Kontroverse zwischen Luhmann und Esser zur Idee der integrativen Sozialtheorie zunächst näher zu betrachten und danach einen Vermittlungsversuch zu unternehmen und die Tragfähigkeit der beiden Standpunkte auszuloten. Hierzu sollen zunächst einmal die beiden Theoriekonzeptionen der beiden Soziologen dargestellt werden. Es gilt, zum einen Luhmanns Systemtheorie in den für die Kritik an Esser wichtigsten Punkten kurz zu umreißen - eine vollständige Ausführung des Theoriegebildes würde den Rahmen dieser Arbeit sprengen - zum anderen wird der Fokus dann auf das Modell der soziologischen Erklärung Essers gerichtet. Hier gilt es, das Modell detailliert zu erklären, da dieses den Auslöser der Kontroverse zwischen den beiden Soziologen darstellt. Im weiteren Verlauf gilt das Hauptaugenmerk dann wieder Luhmann und dessen Kritik. Hier sollen die Widers
