About the Book

Lucy Dangerfield is the librarian for the Ivywood Public Library. She lives alone with her four cats, Leo, Hank, Jasper and Miracle. She loves her life just fine being the introvert that she is. All she needs is a good Elijah Riley Mystery to read. Her mother tried hard to mold her into what she wanted her to be. A mold, she just couldn't fit into. Lucy had big, thick, glasses until she discovered contact lenses at age fourteen. She wasn't graceful enough for gymnastics. Her dismounts always sucked. Ballet? Big glasses and pink tutus? No way. Then Lucy learned how to play the violin, but she wasn't a prodigy, so that wasn't good enough for Naomi Dangerfield. Although Lucy still loves the violin. Her parents died in a car accident when she was seventeen leaving her in the care of her eccentric great-aunt, Agnes Dangerfield. Aggie's love gave her self-confidence. Lucy came out of her shell a little more, but she still didn't have good friends. She preferred her introverted ways hiding among her books with her four mischievous cats until Colt McCallister moved in next door. The new vet in town has some handsome friends. His college roommate, Eric Williams. His brother, Jason McCallister. His cousin, Rogue Harper an ex-Army Ranger who has a great deal in common with Lucy. He was raised by an aunt and uncle, after his mother, Indie died when he was thirteen. Colt's most famous friend, mystery writer, Elijah Riley. They form a crew, one big, happy family that Lucy hasn't had in a very long time. They welcome Lucy while she and Colt develop a loving, relationship after an interesting start. Although, everyone in Ivywood isn't so happy about the new budding relationship between Colt and Lucy. Lucy has a way of getting herself into mischief. The housewives in her neighborhood sure are acting strange. The house behind Lucy's is where Mr. Hobs, a retired gentleman lives with his wife, Audra. He has daily routines that you can set your watch by. He disappears. Then the other neighbor, Mr. Hammer dies from a heart attack. It was a heart attack, right? His wife had him cremated before the kids could even question her. The neighbor's husbands are dropping like flies. A word from Rogue to the Sheriff about the mysteries at the Hob's house creates a whole new bucket of issues for Lucy and Rogue as they start to investigate the Hobs and what's really going on in that house. She might be pint sized but when an intruder breaks into her house, she is able to fight him off. The intruder she assumes is James Hobs, the son of William and Audra Hobs sent to her as a warning to mind her own business. She's left battered and bruised but she's still curious about what is going on in the Hobs' house as is Rogue. Then there is her aunt's neighbor Teddy. A nice enough fellow who is growing increasingly controlling of her aunt. Lucy has more on her plate than she can deal with after all four tires on her Jeep are slit. The mysteries at the Hobs' house and attacks on Lucy all come to a boil one night in Rogue's apartment and everyone's roles will be revealed by some surprising confessions. The pint-sized librarian just might have to save everyone including Rogue, Teddy and Mr. Hobs.
