The Seriousness of Abuse and Trauma
I wish I could write a book about how fortunate we are that abuse and trauma are not something prevalent in our society, but sadly, I cannot.
Americans live with the staggering figures that one in five have been sexually molested as a child, which is only one shocking statistic. A parent's beating will physically scar one in four children. One out of eight children will grow up after witnessing their mother being beaten. All of this leaves scars on the souls and hearts of the victims. Wars create children who have seen unthinkable acts, as well as soldiers who endure the trauma of war itself. In this environment, there are many broken spirits desperately seeking healing and relief from their pain. We have a mighty work to do to heal our society and fellow human beings.
There isn't one answer for everyone. I chose a spiritual path described in my book, Love Puts Things Right, where I document my journey to heal my broken soul. My book chronicles how I found the peace of mind I was seeking and, through grace and forgiveness, to let go of the endless mind chatter and pain. I cannot tell anyone it is easy because it is not; it can take years, even a lifetime, with relentless determination. I later learned that my path was indeed spiritual, but I had also involved techniques now known through the study of neuro-cardiology. Study of the heart and brain. The Ancients, mystics, Indigenous, and yogis all understood how the body works to release negativity; however, science had not yet caught up with the different functions of our miraculous self-regulating ability. It was unknown that the 40,000 cells within the heart include their memory cells that can sense independently from the brain. Using prayer, daily meditation, and studying ancient techniques, I opened the door to healing my heart using spiritual and, at the time, unknown scientific methods to self-regulate the cells and organs of my body and mind. We have that miraculous power!
