About the Author: José Díaz- Díaz (1948), colombiano, naturalizado estadounidense, se graduó en Filosofía en la Universidad de Santo Tomás de Bogotá y cursó estudios de posgrado en Literatura en la universidad Javeriana de la misma ciudad. Después de unos cuantos años de ejercer la docencia en la capital colombiana viaja a Caracas en 1979 donde permanece por diez años. Su regreso a Bogotá es solo por unos lustros nada más porque en l996 emigra a los Estados Unidos donde reside, en La Florida, hasta el presente. Desde su primera juventud lee y escribe sobre temas literarios. Las Reseñas, los mini-ensayos y, más tarde la Crítica Literaria, ocuparán gran parte de su tiempo y de sus afanes. Finalmente la narrativa lo gana por entero. Ha publicado el libro de ensayos breves: Literatura para principiantes (2006); el poemario Los versos del emigrante (2008); la novela El último romántico (2010), versión ebook: Retrato de un incauto (2013). En preparación el manual: Todo lo que debe saber un escritor principiante. La temática de su narrativa, de tendencia universal más que local o nacional, gira principalmente alrededor de la búsqueda del sentido de la vida del hombre contemporáneo; de su conciencia opacada; y por su terca opción de evitar caer en el abismo del absurdo total. Los contenidos de sus relatos invitan al lector a escarbar en la conciencia-a veces oscura y a veces luminosa- de sus criaturas literarias para intuir el soporte de sus simbolismos. Sus personajes suelen ser seres descentrados, transgresores y de límite. Su escritura tiende a usar técnicas alejadas de lo tradicional y más bien se regodea en la experimentación postmoderna.
