Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2012 im Fachbereich Germanistik - Neuere Deutsche Literatur, Note: 1,0, Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg (Germanistisches Seminar), Veranstaltung: Gedichte von Gryphius bis Celan, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Noch heute blickt jeder Rheinreisende an der entsprechenden Stelle des Rheins am Loreley-Felsen hinauf und versucht einen Blick auf die blonde Jungfrau zu erhaschen, die dort oben sitzen soll, oder versucht wenigstens die weit entfernte Melodie zu vernehmen, die diese angeblich so verführerisch singen soll. Jeder weiß natürlich, dass dies nicht möglich ist, da ja diese Frau, wenn sie denn wirklich gelebt hat, schon lange nicht mehr in der Welt der Lebenden wandeln kann. Der Traum von dieser schönen Gestalt ist aber seit jeher ungebrochen. Wie alt ist das Märchen von der Loreley aber tatsächlich? Man könnte meinen es gehe zurück auf eine sehr alte deutsche Sage, wenn man das bekannte Gedicht von Heinrich Heine hört, wo die Geschichte der Loreley als "Mährchen aus alten Zeiten" bezeichnet wird. In der heute als Volkslied bekannten Vertonung von Friedrich Silcher ist es sogar "ein Märchen aus uralten Zeiten" . Das klingt doch stark nach uraltem deutschem Kulturgut. Aber so alt ist die Gestalt der Loreley gar nicht. Heute wird sie zwar als eine Art Volkssage verkauft, was aber viele nicht wissen ist, dass ihr erster Auftritt in einer Ballade von Clemens Brentano stattfand. Diese Ballade und damit ihre Hauptfigur Loreley entstanden also nicht in mittelalterlichen Zeiten, sondern im 19. Jahrhundert. Zudem war die Lore Lay, wie sie anfänglich genannt wird, noch nicht das sirenenähnliche Wesen, das wir heute kennen, sondern eine Bürgerliche, die zwar mit einer außergewöhnlichen Schönheit ausgestattet war, aber noch keine Männer zur zauberischen Gesang in den Tod lockte. Nach dem ersten Auftreten der Figur wurde aus der schönen Frau ein vielschichtiger Charakter, deren Persönlichkeit durch Wesen wie antike Nymphen, Sirenen und Nixen beei
